About Searchlight

Searchlight Electric was founded in 1945 by Sir Sidney Hamburger, and more than 75 years later it is still a family-owned business. From its purpose-built head office, distribution centre and large trade showroom, the company has grown into a well-known supplier of decorative lighting to independent lighting shops, retail chains and distribution partners around the world, with a catalogue of more than 3,000 products.

Design sits at the heart of the business. Searchlight’s in-house team of designers brings over 400 new products to market each year, working with CAD/CAM technology to develop each piece. The collection deliberately mixes fresh contemporary looks with traditional and modern classics, so you’ll find sparkling crystal, polished chrome and antique brass finishes next to smoked, champagne and marbled glass, ribbed shades and clean matt black metalwork.

Our Searchlight range covers almost every room. Choose from feature and cluster pendants, glass bar pendants and single pendants, crystal chandeliers and flush ceiling lights, plus wall lights, spotlights, table lamps and floor lamps. Outside, there are wall lights, bollards and post lights in weather-resistant finishes. Many ranges come in several sizes and finishes, making it easy to coordinate a pendant with matching wall lights or lamps.

Searchlight FAQs

Can I match Searchlight pendants with wall lights?

Often, yes. Many Searchlight ranges, such as Bijou, Hanna and Marie Therese, include pendants, flush fittings and wall lights in the same finish, so you can coordinate a whole room. Search the range name to see every piece we stock.

Are Searchlight outdoor lights suitable for exposed areas?

Searchlight outdoor lights carry an IP rating for use outside, commonly IP44 or higher. The exact rating varies by product, so check the specification on each product page and choose a higher rating for very exposed or ground-level positions.

Do Searchlight lights come with bulbs?

It depends on the product. Integrated LED fittings have the light source built in, while many decorative pendants and lamps take standard bulbs that may be sold separately. The product page lists the lamp cap, wattage and whether bulbs are included.
