Interior Smart Lighting

Smart fittings, in every format for every room

Ceilings, pendants, wall lights, table and floor lamps — with the smart intelligence built into the fitting itself, not just the bulb.

Smart fitting vs smart bulb — which and when

A smart bulb is the cheapest way into smart lighting — swap an ordinary bulb for a connected one, keep the existing fitting. A smart fitting goes further: the electronics are in the light itself, usually with integrated LEDs, tuneable white out of the box, and no bulb to replace down the line.

The case for smart fittings: slimmer, more modern designs (no visible bulb), better tuneable-white range, 25,000+ hour service life, and no compatibility worries if you change voice assistant later. The trade-off is the higher upfront cost and — with integrated LEDs — no option to replace the LED when it eventually fails; the fitting itself is swapped.

What's in this range

Smart ceiling lights — flush and semi-flush fittings with app-controlled dimming and tuneable white. The right starting point for most rooms.

Smart pendants — statement ceiling lights over dining tables, islands and living rooms, with smart control built in. Dim, warm up for dinner, cool off for breakfast, all from the app.

Smart bar pendants — linear pendants over kitchen islands and long tables, app-controlled across all lights at once.

Smart wall lights — bedside readers, hallway lights and accent wall fittings that dim and schedule without a wall dimmer.

Smart table lamps & smart floor lamps — complete lamps with the smart electronics in the base, often with a single-touch base control in addition to app and voice.

Smart spotlights & smart recessed lights — downlight and spotlight fittings with app control, tuneable white and often colour-change for mood lighting.

Control methods — what works with what

Most smart fittings support multiple control methods at once:

App control is standard on every fitting in this range. Scheduling, dimming, tuneable white, scenes, and away-from-home control all live in the app.

Voice works via Alexa, Google Home or Apple HomeKit — check the product page for supported assistants, or filter by Works with Alexa or Works with Google Home.

Wall switches still work as a normal on/off — but keep the switch on, because a smart fitting on a switched-off circuit can't be controlled by app or voice. Some smart fittings remember their last state; some default back to full brightness when switched back on. Check the product page.

Remotes and dimmers — some smart fittings ship with a physical remote. For retrofitting a full smart system, see smart lighting accessories.

Wiring, switches and compatibility notes

Smart fittings replace a standard fitting on a standard circuit — no special wiring, no smart wall switch needed. However: don't pair a smart fitting with an existing wall dimmer. The dimmer interferes with the smart electronics and usually breaks the tuneable-white and colour functions. Replace any dimmer in the circuit with a standard on/off switch when you install a smart fitting.

Installation is the same as a standard fitting — replacing a like-for-like fitting is DIY with the power off; new-position installs need an electrician.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a hub or bridge for these smart fittings?

Most smart fittings in this range connect directly over Wi-Fi — no hub required. A few use Zigbee and need a compatible hub (usually a Philips Hue Bridge or an Alexa Echo with Zigbee). Product pages list the connectivity and whether a hub is needed.

Can I dim a smart fitting from the wall?

Not with a traditional wall dimmer — those interfere with smart electronics. Dimming happens through the app, voice assistant, or a dedicated smart dimmer switch. Some fittings ship with a physical remote that duplicates the wall-dimmer experience.

What happens when the LED inside the fitting fails?

Most smart fittings have integrated LEDs rated for 25,000+ hours — over 20 years at typical household use. When they eventually fail, the fitting is replaced rather than the LED swapped. This is the trade-off for the slim, sealed designs.

Will smart fittings still work without internet?

Local control continues — wall switches, paired physical remotes, and in-home voice commands all keep working. App control from outside the home stops until the connection returns. Scheduling set on a hub (rather than in the app) continues running locally.

Can I mix brands of smart fittings?

Yes, via a hub. Alexa, Google Home and Apple HomeKit all let you control multiple brands from one app. Each brand's native app will only show its own fittings, so for multi-brand control, lean on the voice assistant or a unifying platform like SmartThings.
