About DFTP

Design For The People began as what its makers call a love child of Nordlux, the lighting company founded in 1977. It grew from a passion for great design and a simple idea: designer lighting made with materials that can last a lifetime, at a level more people can enjoy. The DFTP team follows trends closely, then interprets them to fit its own design universe rather than chasing fashion.

Every DFTP product is created by a named designer or studio, including Bjørn + Balle, Bønnelycke MDD, Jacob Jensen Design, Says Who and Maria Berntsen. The aim is a careful balance of materials, shape, colour and technology, so each design stays relevant for years. Expect honest materials – metal, glass, leather and textile cables – and thoughtful details such as swappable leather straps and tilting heads.

Our DFTP collection is led by pendant lights, from compact spot pendants to larger metal and opal glass designs, alongside table lamps, wall lights, floor lamps, clamp spotlights and slim bar pendants. Popular ranges include Strap, with its leather strap detail, the minimal Nexus and the adjustable MIB 6, which comes as a pendant, ceiling spot and floor lamp – ideal for building a coordinated look across a room.

DFTP FAQs

Do Strap pendants come with both leather straps?

Strap pendants are designed to be personalised, and many come with two leather straps, in brown and black, so you can choose the look. Check the individual product page to confirm what is supplied with your size and colour.

Are bulbs included with DFTP lights?

Most DFTP designs use standard fittings – for example E27 on Strap and Nexus pendants and GU10 on MIB 6 – and the bulb is usually sold separately. The product page lists the fitting and whether a bulb is included.

Can DFTP lights be dimmed?

Many DFTP pendants and lamps with a standard bulb fitting can be dimmed when used with a dimmable bulb and a compatible dimmer. Designs with built-in LEDs vary, so check the product page for dimming details.
