When considering product size, one of the most important features is the height, or drop, of a fitting. Sometimes this can be variable, but we will always give the Minimum and Maximum drop of a fitting within the technical data. We advise that you check against your own ceiling height and measure the distance from the floor to the bottom of the fitting as given in the technical data, if you are happy this will work for you then proceed with the purchase. While the connection itself is relatively straightforward, working with mains voltage ceiling or wall wiring carries inherent risk — a competent tradesperson will ensure the job is completed safely and to the required standard in your country.
Ceiling profile and mounting
If your property has decorative cornicing, a ceiling rose, or an unusual ceiling profile, mention this to your electrician in advance — some fittings require an additional backplate or canopy adapter to sit flush and look correct.
