Tiffany Easy Fit Pendant

Tiffany Easy Fit Pendant

Tiffany shades, no rewiring

Tiffany easy-fit pendants — stained glass shades that clip directly onto an existing pendant bulb holder. Swap a plain bare-cord pendant for a Tiffany shade without an electrician.

Why easy-fit Tiffany exists

Most Tiffany pendants are hardwired — the shade connects through a cord or chain to a dedicated ceiling rose. That means replacing a standard pendant with a Tiffany one usually requires an electrician and a fair bit of disruption.

Tiffany easy-fit pendants skip all that. The shade has a sprung metal clip that grips directly onto a standard ES/E27 or B22 bulb holder. Remove the existing shade (if there is one), clip the Tiffany shade onto the bulb holder, replace the bulb, power back on. Five minutes, no tools, no rewiring.

Where Tiffany easy-fit is the right choice:

Rented properties — landlords rarely allow tenants to do electrical work. An easy-fit Tiffany shade is a straightforward fair-wear-and-tear upgrade.

Quick room transformation — changing a ceiling fitting can reset the whole feel of a room. Easy-fit Tiffany lets you do it on a weekend.

DIY-unfriendly spaces — high ceilings, old plaster, existing rose wiring you'd rather not disturb.

Hedging the design choice — not sure a Tiffany fitting will suit the room? An easy-fit shade is the low-commitment option. Try it; swap for another if it doesn't work.

Secondary and temporary rooms — rooms you'll change fittings in within a few years, or where the disruption of a full install isn't justified.

What easy-fit means for Tiffany shades specifically

Standard easy-fit shades are typically fabric or plain glass — relatively light, simple to manufacture in high volume. Tiffany easy-fit shades are different in two ways:

Weight — Tiffany shades are heavier than fabric or plain glass equivalents. Check the weight rating of the existing bulb holder and pendant cord before fitting. Standard modern pendant cords can handle 2–3kg comfortably; older or lower-spec cords may struggle.

Hand-assembly — like all Tiffany shades, easy-fit versions are hand-assembled from individual glass pieces. This is more expensive per unit than machine-made alternatives. Expect to pay more for a Tiffany easy-fit than a standard fabric easy-fit, reflecting the construction.

Compatibility with existing fittings

Easy-fit shades work on any fitting with a standard ES/E27 or B22 bulb holder. The sprung clip wraps around the bulb holder's collar. This covers:

Modern bare-cord pendants — a pendant cord hanging from a ceiling rose with just a bulb holder at the bottom. The commonest modern fitting and the perfect host for an easy-fit shade.

Existing pendants you want to upgrade — remove the existing shade (usually a simple twist or unscrew), leave the bulb holder, clip on the Tiffany shade.

Some table lamp bases — lamp bases with a standard exposed bulb holder and no existing shade frame. Less common for Tiffany but possible.

Won't work on:

Gallery-mounted traditional pendants — if your existing shade sits on a gallery (a metal ring collar mounted above the bulb), that's a duplex fitting, not easy-fit.

Chandelier arms — small clip-on chandelier shades are a different fitting type.

Recessed and downlight fittings — no bulb holder exposed to clip onto.

Installation

The five-minute process:

1. Power off at the consumer unit.
2. Remove any existing shade from the bulb holder.
3. Remove the bulb.
4. Clip the Tiffany easy-fit shade onto the bulb holder — the sprung ring wraps around the collar.
5. Replace the bulb.
6. Power back on.

No wiring changes, no tools needed, no notification required.

Bulb choice

Tiffany easy-fit shades take standard E27 bulbs (sometimes B22 bayonet). Warm white (2700K) LED filament bulbs are the right default — preserve the amber Tiffany character and run cool enough to be safe inside the enclosed shade.

Avoid cool-white and daylight LEDs — they clash with the warm stained glass and undermine the visual effect.

Frequently asked questions

Will the Tiffany easy-fit shade fit my existing pendant?

If your existing pendant has a standard ES/E27 or B22 bulb holder at the bottom of a cord — with or without a current shade — yes. Check the internal diameter of the easy-fit ring against the bulb holder's collar (typically 40mm or 42mm). If the existing shade is gallery-mounted on a metal collar above the bulb, that's a different fitting type and easy-fit won't work.

Can an easy-fit pendant cord take the weight of a Tiffany shade?

Standard modern pendant cords are rated for 2–3kg of shade weight. Most Tiffany easy-fit shades sit within that range. For larger Tiffany shades, check the weight spec against your existing cord's rating, or upgrade the cord for safety.

Do I need an electrician?

No. That's the whole point. Power off at the wall, clip the shade on, power back on. No wiring changes, no Part P notification required.
